“By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” – Second Vatican Council, Lumen Gentium 11

In the Diocese of Hamilton, Confirmation is normally received at age 12 or Grade 7.

Confirmation for Children attending Parish Schools

For children in Grade 7 attending St. Michael, St. John, and Our Lady of Peace, sacramental preparation is done by the school in collaboration with the Parish.               The Confirmation date for 2017 has yet to be booked.

 

Confirmation Parent Meeting: All parents with children who will receive confirmation at Saint Michael’s parish this November are invited to a meeting on Tuesday September 26th at 7pm. Please bring the completed registration form with you

.

Confirmation for Children not attending Parish Schools and are in Grade 7 and up; attending public or private schools are required to attend 5 – 6 classes of sacramental preparation, a Confirmation Retreat and Rehearsal at the parish.

These classes are held in the parish office on Monday nights at 6:30pm, beginning in September, the start date for 2017 was September 18, 2017.

You may register at the parish office or email the parish for a registration form.

Once you have completed the form, please bring it to the office, with a copy of the child’s baptism certificate and  payment of $35 in cash or cheque  during office hours; 9:00am-4:30 pm. Confirmation is usually celebrated in November.

Preparation for Confirmation is offered for both youth and adults in the Spanish language.

If you would like to receive sacramental preparation for Confirmation in Spanish please contact Deacon Alberto or Father Jason

Confirmation for Adults

If you have not received the sacrament of Confirmation please contact Father Jason or Deacon Alberto to discuss your situation.   Preparation is adapted to the circumstances of each individual and is available in either English or Spanish.
