“Let the little children come to me, for to such as these belongs the kingdom of heaven” – Luke 18:16
Jesus invites all of us to be united with him in the Holy Eucharist. Children are normally to receive Jesus for the first time at the age of 7 or second grade of elementary school. As is the tradition of the Church, preparation for First Holy Communion also includes preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession.
First Communion for Children in Parish Schools
For children in Grade 2 attending St. Michael, St. John, and Our Lady of Peace, preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is done by the school in collaboration with the Parish.
First Communion for Children who do not attend Parish Schools
Children in Grade 2 and up attending public or private schools are required to attend 12 classes for sacramental preparation at the parish. The classes start date have not been set up yet for this coming year.
Children must attend both courses for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
To register your child for classes, bring a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate and $35 cash or cheque to the parish office and fill out a registration form.

First Holy Communion in Spanish
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is also offered in Spanish. Class start dates have not been set up yet. They are offered at two times: 4:15pm or 6:30pm (in the months of April and May all children will be required to attend at 6:30pm). The class continues until the final week of May. More information to follow.
Celebrations of First Reconciliation and First Communion in Spanish are celebrated in May.
To register your child for classes, bring a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate and $40 cash or cheque to the parish office by September 30, 2017.

First Holy Communion for Older Children or Adults
If you or your child have never received Holy Communion and wish to do so, please contact Father Jason in the parish office. We will arrange appropriate preparation based on your circumstances.
